Every new BP55 now includes Asmcom’s USB Stable Power Loom, a custom-designed 200cm cable developed after months of real-world testing on Mac Mini, Microsoft Surface, laptops and other low-power USB systems. To the best of our knowledge, this is the world’s first USB power stabilisation cable designed specifically for UHD optical drives.
The loom allows an optional regulated 5VDC external power supply to deliver clean, stable power directly to the drive while USB continues to handle data communication. Using the Asmcom’s Stable Power Loom significantly improves voltage stability during demanding UHD disc reading and can help eliminate read instability caused by fluctuating USB bus power.

📀 Important Usage Recommendation: To preserve the lifespan of your Blu-ray drive, we do not recommend using it for direct playback of movie discs. Continuous playback can lead to premature laser wear. Our drives are ripping-optimised, not for regular movie playback.

⚡ Important Information – Asmcom Stable Power Loom Kit

🔌 Do Not Use USB Extension Cables: We strongly recommend that the Asmcom Stable Power Loom is connected directly to your computer without using a USB extension cable. Adding an extension cable increases the overall cable length and adds connectors and electrical resistance, which can increase voltage drop and reduce USB signal integrity. Using a USB Extension Cable can potentially cause the Optical Blu-ray Writer Drive to disconnect, fail to be recognised correctly, or experience read interruptions. The Stable Power Loom has been specifically designed and tested at its supplied length to provide the optimum balance between stable 5V power delivery, USB data integrity and reliable UHD disc reading. The USB Type-C Loom is intentionally limited to 120cm to improve power-delivery efficiency and minimise voltage drop.

🔄 USB Hub Compatibility: During development and extensive testing of the Asmcom’s Stable Power Loom, we also tested various USB hubs. We found that some cheaper or lower-quality powered USB hubs could cause problems with certain optical drives, including drives not being recognised correctly or reads stopping during operation. However, we specifically tested the Stable Power Loom with the Vantec 7-Port USB 3.0 Powered Hub and experienced no problems whatsoever. The drives were recognised correctly and operated normally throughout our testing.

Because USB controllers, power circuitry and internal electronics vary considerably between different hubs, we cannot guarantee compatibility with every make and model of USB hub.

You normally don’t need a powered USB hub with the Stable Power Loom unless you require additional USB ports. The Stable Power Loom already provides the Optical Blu-ray Writer Drive with its own dedicated and stable 5V power source. Wherever possible, we therefore recommend connecting the USB data connection directly to your computer.

🔌 USB Type-C to USB-A 3.0 Adapter Included

We include a USB Type-C to USB-A 3.0 adapter with every Asmcom Stable Power Loom Type-C Kit, so you don’t need to buy an adapter separately. Customers with only standard USB-A ports on their computer can now use the Type-C Stable Power Loom. The supplied adapter connects the loom’s USB Type-C connector to the computer’s USB-A port while maintaining USB 3.0 connectivity.

The good news is that we now have both the USB Type-C Stable Power Looms and USB 3.0 adapters in stock and ready for supply.
